The hall's close tomorrow at 9am and I've spend most of the weekend getting ready to close San Jac up. Its been a pretty quiet summer. Just not a whole lot going on. Katie and I are planning on going to either Six Flags or Sea World in San Antonio on Wednesday if anyone still left in town wants to go. Wednesday is my 24 hours off in between summer and fall sessions and I plan on taking advantage of it and getting far away from school. On Thursday RA training goes into full swing and I'll pretty much be stuck here until school starts on the 31st. Hope everyone had a good summer and I'll see you all soon.

P.S. I got a new Motorola Razr V3 phone with Cingular and have a new cell phone number so update if I haven't already sent you a message. 512-466-7144

NY Times Writer Jailed

For those that haven't seen this I though I would post about this. I have to say that it scares the shit out of me. Judith Miller, a writer for the New York Times was jailed this week for contempt of court for refusing to reveal confidential sources. Instead of giving up and releasing the information she will spend the next 6 months in jail. The Department of Justice has absolutely no business violating the rights of our free press. I think Judith Miller deserves some credit for this brave action in support of the 1st amendment.

If you want to read more click here.

Google Earth

For those of you I haven't shown this to you have to check it out. It's a new application from Google called Google Earth. It takes Keyhole Satellite Imagery and combines it with a really cool 3-d viewing method. For some of the major metro areas it even has three dimensional views of the buildings. But the coolest thing is you can just plug in an address or zip code and find all the restaurants, gas stations, movie theaters or just about anything else you could search for in the near area. Check it out at (http://earth.google.com/).

UT-Austin From Orbit

Google Earth 3-D View

Austin City Limits Festival

Austin City Limits Festival is gearing up...

Find the schedule here and grab your tickets here. Hope everyone that I haven't heard from yet this summer is doing well and having fun. I guess I shall attempt to catch up on the past month and a half.

Well first off I think I've officially decided that I'm changing majors to Economics, perhaps with a minor in Geology or Chemistry. Not quite sure what I want to do with it yet but looking around with my Dad's help I see a lot of opportunities out there depending on what I want to do when I graduate.

In less life altering events, things have been going pretty well around here. Slowly getting accustomed to being in San Jac. The rooms are about the same size as Whitis but having the private bath is still kinda odd. I miss Whitis in some ways but I realize that I'm ready to move on.

Anyway I've mostly been hanging around taking it easy, seeing movies and hanging out. Kellen and I are breezing through our Texas Government class. And as far as RA'ing goes Jennie and I still don't have any residents. They're supposed to arrive next Saturday so that’s what I've been getting ready for this past week. I hope that they aren't like the little punks that we got last year with the Preview program.

Still got some stuff we're planning to do for the rest of the summer for anyone who wants to join in.

List of Stuff to do for July:

-Fantastic Four-Midnight Showing (July 7/8th) (Regal Westgate 11)
-Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (July 15th) (Regal Westgate 11)
-Harry Potter VI Midnight Release (July 15/16th) (The Arboretum Barnes & Noble)
-Kayaking (July 23rd) (Town Lake)
-Tubing/Camping Trip
-Scuba Diving/Snorkeling (Lake Travis)
-Schlitterbahn Trip (New Braunfels)
We'll hope everyone is having a good summer. I'm just waiting to hear back on grades for most of them. Economics I apparently have an 89.788888. So tomorrow the mission is to convince the teacher to let me have an A. I'm done with this semester. Blah!

So anyway, this morning started off with taking my Government exam. Went pretty well. I then proceeded to go to the Mall and buy Guild Wars so that Kellen, Ben and I can play it this summer. Then I had the incredibly intelligent idea of doing a 12 hour desk shift. And mind you this wansn't a normal desk shift where I sit there and do nothing but watch movies. People were checking out like crazy, and guess who has to do all the paperwork...

Now I work in the Honors Quad and you would expect everyone there to be of reasonable intelligence. Wrong...they have some pretty stupid people there just like the rest of campus. Here are sample questions that I was asked...

Resident: "What's the date?"
Me: "16th"
Resident "What month?"

Could you be any more dense? I mean really...

Resident: "Do I have to turn in my orginal key"
Me: "Nah, turn in any key you want." (Kinda Sarcastic Tone)
Resident: "Really?!?"

That's it, I have little hope for future generations with these people in the gene pool!

1 Down, 4 to go...

Kicked the hell out of my Architecture final this morning. I just feel that I needed to start this blog because textamerica is really not ment for this kind of thing.

So let's see. The hell that is finals is upon us. I have five, count that, five finals. So please for all of you out there that have no finals or just like one or two, please keep that to yourself. Really it wouldn't suck as much if I wasn't on the A/B borderline with all my classes.

I really can't wait for the end of the school year. This summer I am sticking around Austin again as a Summer RA. But before summer school starts Kellen is going to stay with me for a couple day's in Boerne before coming back to Austin. We're planning on seeing Star Wars III opening night and maybe hitting up Six Flags or something. After our huge 4 days off we head back to Austin to get back in time to head to New York for the National Housing Confrence in Syracuse. Thank you to all you who live on campus and paid for this trip.

Hopefully this summer will be as fun as last year. This year I'll be in San Jac. Its a pretty nice deal. I'm a preview RA with Jennie. The nice part is we don't have residents for the first half of the summer but still get the free room.

Anyway thats all for now. Have to get back to studying for hell week.
